Whether it's in front of 20,000 screaming Glaswegians in Georges Square at Midnight on New Years Eve or in front of 20 at a local club, I have one goal in life - to spread the gospel of the guitar!
Since picking up a battered nylon-strung guitar at the age of 3, I have always been fascinated by this beautiful instrument. I joined my first band at 15 and started my apprenticeship in the pubs, bars and clubs in the Home Counties and London during the booming punk/pub rock era of the late 1970's.
Working as a session player for the corporate video market in the mid-80's I started getting serious with my playing and this led me to begin writing my own songs and thinking about performing them to a wider audience. In 1988 I was awarded a Billboard Magazine Recognition Award from my song "Cry No More" in the USA and with my then newly-formed band, The Kickback, was voted one of the Top 10 unsigned bands by Musician Magazine, again in the US, in 1995.
From supporting bands like The View, Amy McDonald, Nine Below Zero and Manfred Mann's Earth Band, to playing prestigious venues such as The Brighton Dome and The Bournmouth International Centre I have gained valuable experience in both gigging and musicianship.
I gig regularly with my band, and it's off-shoots. Case Hardin, and have co-written material with singer-songwriter, Paul Child. I also gigged nationally and internationally with Suspiciously Elvis, the UK's premier Elvis tribute band. Hopefully, I'll meet you at a gig. Introduce yourself - we can talk about guitars!
